Soap Bubble Tools 2011

This concept shall contribute to an activity promoting urban environment, make people enjoy being active by appealing to the child in them. Cities have their own climate, including particular winds, especially at wide squares. These are scale models of big soap bubble tools that collect rain water nearby. This water is then enriched with soap. Dipping the circles into the water basins by pushing, rotating or levering them activates the process: the wind blows soap bubbles and carries them around. Accordingly you can follow and try to catch them and get a playful feedback for your activity.

These three objects create a family by using the same design vocabulary. The mechanisms are simple and self-explaining, thus the objects are handy and subtle, which leaves space for the actual magic developed by the soap bubbles.
Considering the weather and the contact with water, the objects consist of metal, whereas the handles are made in wood in order to gain a more convenient touch.
The dull black paint in combination with the detailed wooden handles underline the appearance of old mechanic machines.
